Reyes Ramirez in Residence April 2024

We are pleased to announce Reyes Ramirez as our April 2024 Speculative Play and Just Futurities resident scholar.

During his residency, Reyes intends to expand his latest curatorial project, The Houston Artist Speaks Through Grids. This project explores the use of grids in contemporary Houston art, literature, history, and politics through a virtual exhibition, incorporating methods for outreach beyond traditional exhibition models. Reyes is preparing a series of essays on the ways Houston artists use the grid, working to understand the history, effects, and futures of the urban landscape in relation to urban planning, gentrification, and institutional racism. A virtual exhibition of works currently included in the project can be viewed at www.thastg.com
